Frequently asked questions...
How does my son or daughter play for Cheshire County?
All representative players are selected through a closed trial process. To be invited to county trials, players must first be nominated by their school's PE department.
Once nominated, you'll receive a link to complete an online form, where you'll find full details about your trial date, venue, and the next steps in the selection process.
Where do I order my training kit?
All of our playing kit, training wear, and leisurewear are supplied by O'Neills. Official Cheshire Schools FA merchandise can be purchased directly from our online club shop: https://www.oneills.com/uk_en/shop-by-team/soccer/soccer-clubs/cheshire-schools-fa.html
When are county trials?
County trials are held every summer, typically in late May through mid-June. All schools are notified in advance and asked to submit their player nominations at least two weeks before the first trial date.
For the U18 age group, nominations are self-submitted via the first tab on our Linktree when the nomination window is open.
How many games are played across the season?
Typically, each Cheshire squad plays between 10 and 20 games per season. Every representative team competes in the Northern Counties League, guaranteeing a minimum of six competitive fixtures.
In addition, teams take part in the Northern Counties Cup and the ESFA National Cup, providing further opportunities for high-level competition. Throughout the season, we also arrange development/ player ID games against academy sides and other county squads.
For some age groups, we organise festivals, tournaments, and residential trips, offering players even more opportunities to develop, compete and enjoy new experiences.
What opportunities are provided through Cheshire Schools FA?
Playing for Cheshire is not only an honour, it's an incredible opportunity to represent your county at the highest level. As part of the programme, you'll compete against the best players from across the country and showcase your talent in front of scouts from numerous professional football clubs and the England setup.
Each year, five U15 Girls and five U18 Boys are nominated to trial for the England Schools' FA International Team, who go on to play official international fixtures.
The exciting experience offers every player the chance to create lifelong memories, form new friendships, and compete in the football of the highest standard.
