Cheshire are off and running in the Northern Counties Championship group after a dominant performance against a disciplined, 2nd placed Merseyside. Cheshire started brightly, getting close up to our tempo very early creating chances - especially from wide areas with some lovely combinations with our attacking midfielders. The deadlock was broken in the 4th minute when S. Malley burst into the box with some incredible footwork and found the far corner with a great finish. The lead was doubled within 15 minutes, the attack again coming from some fantastic pace and play in the wide areas. S. Malley assisting D. Acquaye for a near post finish. Our girls continued to impose on Merseyside with both pace and physicality and managed to add a further two goals before half time: S. Malley and D. Acquaye adding another to their tally (Assists from D. Acquaye & R. Mcilveen). Changes were regularly made throughout the first and second half to keep the intensity high. Merseyside were rewarded with a goal deep into the second half for their desire to 'keep going', following a very direct pass - their CF took a brilliant first touch and a powerful strike with her second. Nearing the final whistle, the game was put to bed when R. Mcilveen selflessly played the ball across the box, allowing D. Acquaye to complete her hat-trick - a counties hat-trick does not come around often! All in all, it was a really pleasing team performance and the girls should be proud of this result.
